To Whom It May Concern (thanks Laura!)

This weekend my friend Laura sent me a link on Facebook to this video. I am not exaggerating when I tell you I probably watched it 20 or so times since then. I big puffy heart Joy Williams anyway, but in The Civil Wars, I flat out adore her. And this song? Talk about reading my heart and putting it to a delicately beautiful melody with tender, vulnerable lyrics. Let me dedicate it to all my single friends out there!

Also, and I know how pathetic this makes me, I also think of LOST when I watch this video. Now that people in the sideways world are starting to realize they had this other world with their soulmates (Charlie and Claire, Penny and Desmond, Charlotte and Daniel) it makes me think this song fits them too. Yeah, in case you're wondering, I think about LOST all the time. Who know the brilliant thoughts I will be able to have time for after May 23rd rolls around.

And I wholeheartedly recommend checking out more of The Civil Wars on Youtube. I am also a huge fan of their Eddie's Attic performance of From This Valley.

Happy Monday!!

  1. I love them.

I check noisetrade often to see if they have released any new things. I have two things they have done from there.

    :o)

  3. That is beautiful. I feel your heart from my chair. It is true. You miss the one that God has for you before you even meet them. It makes it so sweet when it finally does. I am excited for you.

I feel like an unveiling is coming post-Lost.

I love that you know so much about music!

  4. I'm so glad you liked it. I was listening to The Civil Wars over and over for quite a while before I realized it was THE Joy Williams that I've loved for so long. On their myspace page, there's a link to a free cd of about ten songs from one of their Eddie's Attic shows and I listen to it all the time - it's haunting and makes me think of my grandparents, which sounds weird, but really isn't.

I loved last night's LOST and that someone finally seemed to see in the sideways world what really should have been.
